Cardiac biomarker test measures substances in your blood to help diagnose heart conditions and assess your risk of heart disease:

Troponin A common biomarker that enters the bloodstream shortly after a heart attack and can remain elevated for up to two weeks.

Creatinine kinase (CK) An enzyme that can double after a heart attack, but levels can also rise due to other conditions.

CK-MB A subtype of CK that's more sensitive to heart damage from a heart attack.

Natriuretic peptides (NPs) A group of biomarkers that can indicate heart failure. N-terminal proBNP (NT-proBNP) is a common type of NP used to assess heart strain.

C-reactive protein (CRP) A common biomarker for cardiovascular disease that's associated with inflammation
