Treadmill test ( TMT)

Treadmill test(TMT) also known as a treadmill stress test or exercise electrocardiogram (ECG), is a noninvasive medical procedure that assesses the heart's response to exercise. It's used to evaluate heart health and diagnose a variety of conditions, including coronary artery disease (CAD) and abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias):

  • During the test, you walk or run on a treadmill while your heart rate, blood pressure, and ECG are monitored. The speed and incline of the treadmill gradually increase to simulate the stress of daily activities.
  • The results of the test show how well your heart responds to exercise and can help determine if you have heart disease or other heart-related issues.
  • A treadmill test usually lasts about 10 to 15 minutes, but the exact duration can vary.
  • You'll need to wear comfortable clothing and shoes, and avoid lotions or emollients on the day of the test. You can eat a light meal about an hour before the test, and you can take your regular medications unless they slow your heart rate
